About 蹴鞠 [cù jū] Ancient Chinese Sport
蹴鞠 [cù jū] is an old Chinese sport. It is a competitive game that requires kicking a ball through an opening into a net. The ball that is used in this sport is made with a kind of leather ball stuffed with feathers, and it is not allowed to use the hands during the game. It is regarded as the first 足球 [zú qiú] (football).
The form of 蹴鞠 [cù jū] is similar to that of modern 足球 [zú qiú], but it consists of different types of playing modes and skills. The game was initially invented for military training purposes. During the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), the popularity of 蹴鞠 [cù jū] spread from the army to the royal courts and upper classes. 蹴鞠 [cù jū] games were standardized and rules were also established during this period of time. In the Tang Dynasty (618-907), 蹴鞠 [cù jū] game significantly developed and spread to Japan and Korea in the east and Europe in the west.

Meaning of Numbers in Chinese Culture
Different cultures have different number
associations. For example, in many countries, the number 七[qī] (7) is
regarded as lucky number, whereas the number 十三[shí sān] (13) is
considered to be unlucky. Likewise, in Chinese culture, people believe that certain numbers have auspicious or inauspicious meanings.
In China, people often avoid the number 四[sì] (4) because it sounds like the word “死 [sĭ]”, which means “death”. Therefore, many numbered product lines skip the number四[sì]. On the other hand, number 六[liù] (6) and number 八[bā] (8) are believed to have auspicious meanings because their names sound similar to the words that have positive meanings in Chinese.
These days, especially among young people, it is popular to express meanings by assembling different numbers in creative ways. For example, “五 二 零”[wŭ èr líng] (5 2 0) represents “我爱你”[wŏ ài nĭ] (I love you), because their sounds are quite similar.
