About KBLSS – The Best in Brisbane Asian Language Courses We love Languages!!

We love Languages!!

Our Mission: to create a language immersion environment for Australian children and adults.

Our Vision: for our students to be able to communicate confidently with native speakers in Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, and Cantonese.

Our Motto: learning a second language is an opportunity to see the world differently
KBLSS was founded in Brisbane in 2006 by a small group of language lovers who noticed that there weren’t many Asian language courses available in Brisbane.

Fun fact: Kawabe Learning Studio is now KB Lingual Studio, because it’s easier to remember and to say. In the original Japanese, Kawabe is pronounced “Ka-wa-beh”, but this is often twisted by the Australian accent into “Ka-wa-bee”.

Mandarin Language

Mandarin is the most spoken Chinese language. With more than 1 billion speakers worldwide, it has more native speakers than any other language. Mandarin Chinese is the official language of China and Taiwan but there are also extensive Chinese speaking communities around the world, including other parts of Asia, North and South America, Europe and Australia. Mandarin Chinese is written with characters that represent both sounds and meanings.

Why Learn Mandarin (Chinese)

Australia has strong ties to China and visa-versa. China is Australia’s biggest trading partner with more than $120 billion of trading taking place in 2012. Australia is also a haven for Chinese immigrants with a reported 1.5% of Australia’s population born in China. Being fluent in the native language of a people so connected to our own culture will improve your job prospects and community relations.

Why Learn Cantonese

As South-East Asian countries grow in economic importance, so does the importance of Cantonese. About 蹴鞠 [cù jū] Ancient Chinese Sport

蹴鞠 [cù jū] is an old Chinese sport. It is a competitive game that requires kicking a ball through an opening into a net. The ball that is used in this sport is made with a kind of leather ball stuffed with feathers, and it is not allowed to use the hands during the game. It is regarded as the first 足球 [zú qiú] (football).

The form of 蹴鞠 [cù jū] is similar to that of modern 足球 [zú qiú], but it consists of different types of playing modes and skills. The game was initially invented for military training purposes. During the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 220), the popularity of 蹴鞠 [cù jū] spread from the army to the royal courts and upper classes. 蹴鞠 [cù jū] games were standardized and rules were also established during this period of time. In the Tang Dynasty (618-907), 蹴鞠 [cù jū] game significantly developed and spread to Japan and Korea in the east and Europe in the west.
